Greg Hammack lead the fight, finishing with 12 points. Jon Peters worked the boards, finishing with 14 boards to go with his 6 points.

Empire 91 Del Fuegos 80
What do you get when you have the two highest scoring teams playing each other? You have a mad dash to the finish line. In one of the highest scoring games of the year, Empire defeated Del Fuegos 91-80. The game was close, until Empire went on a 8-0 that spread the lead out far enough to where DF couldn’t recover. From then on, they traded buckets, but DF didn’t manage to get closer. Brian Lee almost had a triple double, finishing the game with 32, 8 assists, and 9 rebounds. Chad Hill added 20 points, 7 boards, and 5 assists. Also, Chris Allen had 18 points, 5 boards, and 5 assists. DF had five players score double figures, but it wasn’t quite enough. Cobras 60 Tarheels 70
The Tarheels were hot from behind the arc, and that proved to be the difference, as they upset the Cobras 70-60. These familiar rivals battled hard, and battled well. The Tarheels made 9 triples during the game, and used a few timely ones to pull away late in the second half for the difference. Cory Ludwick scored 16 of his 25 points in the second half to lead the Tarheels. Brendan Jones made 5 triples, finishing with 21 points. The Cobras were lead by Mike Lane and Sean Koutsakis, who finished the game with 15 points each.

They were lead by Dewayn Bell, who had 15 points and 12 rebounds. Also, Leslie Lewis added 16 points for the game. For One, Rashad Lowery lead the way, finishing with 14 points and 6 boards, while Nehemiah Weaver added 10 points.

Inwood 57 We Run This 74
WRT needed 82 points to make the playoffs, and they almost got there, defeating Inwood 74-57. WRT didn’t look like they were going to threaten the needed mark, but then 3 straight triples from Edwin Marino sparked a late run, as they managed to pull away in the final five minutes of the contest. Edwin finished the game with 18 points. WRT was lead by Jon Kragel, who was two assists shy of a triple double, finishing 32 points, 17 rebounds, and 8 assists. Inwood was lead by Joey Nemen, who had 31 points and 7 boards. Joey finished the season as the league’s second leading scorer.

Brick Layers 47 Quiet Storm 56

QS had four players in double figures, lead by Scott Cooke, who had 13 points, 11 boards, and 5 assists. Aaron Collins had a solid game for QS, finishing with 12 points, 6 rebounds, 3 steals, and 2 blocks. AJ Jackson scored 16 for BL.

Del Fuegos 64 Old School 48
Despite already locking up the seven seed, Del Fuegos managed to shake things up thursday. With a win, Old School could have locked up the 2 seed, with the loss, OS would drop to 4th. In the end, DF defeated OS 64-48. Ari Bentecourt lead the way for DF, scoring 23 points, and snagging 3 steals. Matt Adams had a balanced game, finishing with 19 points, 7 boards, and 5 assists. DJ Williams had 13 boards go with 11 points. OS was lead by Jason Powell, who finished the game with 22 points, 10 boards, and 5 assists.

Empire 78 Tarheels 71
In the most meaningful game of the night, Empire defeated the Tarheels 78-71. With a win, the Tarheels could have snagged the 2 seed. Instead, Empire grabbed the 2 seed, and the Tarheels slipped all the way back to 6th. Brian Lee kept his league lead in scoring, finishing with 27 points. Luke Geary probably had the greatest impact on the game, scoring 22 points, 4 assists, and 10 boards. What’s not in the books, is the number of shot he made people miss in the paint with the threat of his blocks. Chad Hill had his strongest performance of the year, finishing with 18 points and 7 boards. For the Tarheels, the treys fell early, but stopped falling late. Despite the loss, they did have two strong performances from Jones and Ludwick. Brendan Jones finished with 20 points and 5 boards, while Cory finished with 21 points and 6 boards.

Subway Player of Week 7

Subway Player of Week 7: Mike Jackson & Dewayn Bell (Antioch A)
Antioch A is on a roll: winners of their last five games and moving into first place in the standings. Much of their success is due to the strong play of Mike Jackson and Dewayn Bell. Last week, they combined for 43 points, 9 assists, 26 rebounds, 2 steals, and 2 blocks in their victory over Del Fuegos. It was only a manner of time before someone on Antioch’s team earned the POW honor, and this time it was just too hard to choose between the two. Congrats to you both!

Antioch A 84 Del Fuegos 57

Subway Player of Week 6

Subway Player of Week 6: Wesley Powell (Old School)
Wesley ‘Luigi’ Powell  scored quickly and often, as he helped Old School defeat Empire in this heated week 6 matchup. Luigi (one of the Super Mario Brothers, with his brother Jason playing the role of Mario) worked hard, seemingly getting his hands on every loose ball and fast break. He finished the game with 30 points (19 in the first half), 9 rebounds, and 3 steals. For his effort in the first half (which got them the lead), as well as keeping his team in first place through week 6, Wesley Powell earned two free subs from Subway! Congrats!
